- Opening Ceremony The ESAO 2025 will officially kick off with the Opening Ceremony, led by Chair Dimitrios Stamatialis. This moment marks the ceremonial start of an inspiring few days dedicated to science, innovation, and collaboration. The welcome address will be delivered by Congress President Dimitrios Stamatialis, who will set the tone for the conference and share what to expect in the days ahead. Following this, ESAO President Prof. Ulrich Steinseifer will present the Presidential Address, offering his perspective on the society’s mission and vision for the future.
- Plenary lecture: Dr. Steve Ash Frustration with ineffective treatments inspired collaborations between physicians and engineers, leading to decades of innovation in dialysis care. This presentation reflects on the journey from failure to success, highlighting key projects such as the Ash Split Catheter and the Wearable Artificial Kidney. It explores what made some innovations widely adopted while others, though technically successful, had limited impact on clinical practice.
